Jack Clark
In 1996-97, Dawn
Maria Lieber completed a DIS titled "Reconstructing from a
Score." Using Labanotation, a form of movement notation, she constructed
Anna Sokolow’s "Kaddish" and Doris Humphrey’s "Call and Breath
of Fire" for a performance in the classroom. The following
undergraduates completed a DIS in creating a score in Labanotation: Monique
Stachiw, Julia Behringer, and Courtney Miller.
Dr. Davis is the Director of the Dance Repertory Theatre and works with 14 undergraduate students to study repertory, prepare for performances, and participate in a range of projects throughout the year. 1995-96 consisted of over 20 different performance projects to study, learn, and perform, including the creating of a new work for Evening of Dance and Twelve Days of Dance. The Dance Repertory Theatre also prepares curriculum collaborations, conference presentations, lecture/demonstrations, and "Dance Dialogue". In 1996-97, students participated in studying, learning and performing 17 different performance projects, including a new work for the Appleton Museum New Wing celebration, the Kid’s Guernica FSU Museum and Gallery event, the Museum of Florida History event, Very Special Arts Festival, and FAMU School of Architecture Masters Symposium. Dr. Davis also served as
choreographic mentor to Kate Foster for her solo choreographic project
for Twelve Days of Dance.
Dr.
Groeniger has supervised undergraduate DIS studying web design, motion
graphics, photography, and BFA studio practices. He is also the 2001 Project
Dream advisor.
Professor
Hampton supervises the Art Academy, a summer program for Florida high school
students interested in studying art in college and pursuing a career in the
arts. FSU undergraduates assist faculty teaching the courses to high school
students enrolled in the program. The positions are volunteer only and
limited to art majors. The program is funded by the university and earned
income.
In the Fall of 1995, Dr. Morgan utilized four student dancers to choreograph and present "Vortex." He also mentored student choreographers and their dancers (three in 1995 and two in 1997) through the creation and rehearsal of their Twelve Days of Dance performances. Dr. Morgan
is willing to mentor student choreographers and supervise DIS.
Dr. Young served as a mentor to Dawn Leibver’s original performance in the annual Department of Dance Twelve Days of Dance concert, 1996. The title of this work was "Sorbet." Dr. Young would like help from undergraduates in the curation and restoration of the FSU Department of Dance historical costume collections.
