About the Office of

Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors

The goal of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors (URACE) is to coordinate the numerous research experiences available to undergraduate students at Florida State University, a Research 1 institution. Research can be conducted independently or as part of a research team, supervised by a faculty mentor, either here at the university or elsewhere. Engaging in research will help students acquire communication skills, creative thinking and problem solving abilities, and experience with the process of discovering or creating knowledge in their field of study.  Close contact with a faculty mentor gives students the opportunity to foster a relationship that will enhance their undergraduate experience at Florida State.

The URACE office maintains this website that includes information about starting undergraduate research, finding research opportunities, presenting research, and finding resources to fund undergraduate research experiences. The URACE office also serves to assist students, advisors, technical staff, faculty, and graduate research assistants who are part of the research tapestry at Florida State University.

Undergraduate research provides a unique opportunity to be a part of the enriching and challenging work being done at Florida State University. We encourage students to begin their exploration of research early in their academic careers! Our office is here to help you on your way.
